Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, together with Cathay Pacific, began testing facial recognition devices when boarding passengers.

The scheme of work is as follows: a passenger registered for a flight scans his passport, boarding pass and person at a special kiosk, after which he is taken for security control and passport control. At the gate, the person is scanned again and, if it coincides with the data from the database, the system passes the passenger on board.

Thus, travelers no longer need to re-present their passport and boarding pass during boarding. In case of successful testing, the system can be introduced into Schiphol on an ongoing basis.
